Research interest

In general, my interest lays in explaining brain size evolution in mammals and birds, combining the cost and benefit perspective using a comparative approach. In particular, we are interested in how seasonality affects brain size evolution and what are the different strategies how animals cope with lean periods in seasonal habitats.

My main focus lays on behavioural flexibility, i.e. cognitive buffering, as a strategy to deal with starvation periods.
