Beyond paleoanthropology

The tools used to prepare and reconstruct fossil hominids can be applied to any fossil specimen.

This Paleocene alligator specimen was recovered from a calcareous deposit of the Spanish Pyrenees. As the rock matrix was harder than the embedded fossil, virtual preparation was essential to investigate the morphology of this unknown species.

This endocast of a pterosaur was prepared non-invasively to reveal the complex architecture of its brain.
