Case study IV: Custom implant design for traumatic lesions

Skeletal parts lost through traumatic events or pathological destruction must be replaced by implants for esthetic and functional reasons. Using CAP methods, prostheses can be custom-designed on the computer screen, using mirror images of preserved regions and morphed data from a skeleton data base. Stereolithographic hardcopies drawn from the virtual parts are used as matrices for the production of the final metal casts.
