I am broadly interested in primate behavior, evolutionary genetics and conservation aspects. My particular interest lies in social structure, mating systems and strategies of orangutans.
In my master thesis I will estimate reproductive success of flanged and unflanged male orangutans on Borneo by paternity analyses. Furthermore, I will integrate behavioral data on reproductive strategies of male and female orangutans and how these strategies are dependent on the male morph, the female reproductive state and the relationship between the partners. My work will give us a better understanding of the paternity distribution between the two male orangutan morphs on Borneo and gives an estimate on the relative success of different male mating strategies in orangutans.
